Another nice run of dairy cattle on hand with prices on good cattle continuing very strong!! Top end of cows selling 2700-3350. Plainer cows mostly 2000-2500. We had an exceptional lineup of Holstein springing heifers from several reputation consignors selling from 2600-3150. Open heifers were mostly over 2.00cwt with some groups of light weight heifers up close to 3.00. Cow size Holstein and beef bulls sold 1900-2500 with heifer size Holsteins selling 1550-1750. Baby calves sold lower than earlier in the week with beef calves topping at 875 versus 985 on the Wednesday sale. Holsteins on Wednesday topped at 705 versus Thursday a top of 635. Butcher cows have dropped significantly in the last week with top cows selling 1.10-1.15 and the main run of cows 92-1.03. Butcher bulls sold 1.38 – 1.42 on a light test.
We continue to see a nice selection of hay and straw every Thursday. 3×3 Canadian straw sold 52.50-60 per bale. No western hay sold this week. Alfalfa 3rd crop 3×3 sold 110-125. Grass 2nd and 3rd crop 65-80. Rounds 1st crop grass mostly 35- 60 per bale.
